Thorvaldsens

Instructor: Heidi Grynderup Poulsen

A rebrand project I did in my time in Copenhagen for Thorvaldsens Museum. This place is a single-artist museum that houses famous Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen’s work (and even himself, since he’s buried under the museum.) On this project, I focused on making the new brand feel friendly, accessible and bold to invite newcomers and encourage guests to return.

Brand Identity

My approach here for the logo was to keep Bertel Thorvaldsens and his work at the heart of the identity. This was accomplished by not only portraying him but also placing his bust on a pedestal to represent most of his collection consisting of busts. This became a key mark that expanded across the identity along with the tile motifs that reference the beautiful elaborate patterns that can be seen in the museum, as well.
